  • The ACCOKEEK FOUNDATION (Accokeek, MD): Carries out educational programs, research, agricultural, and conservation projects on 200 acres of Piscataway Park on the Maryland shore of the Potomac River. Includes the National Colonial Farm and Robert Ware Straus Ecosystem Farm, and offers CSA, new farmer training, and an immigrant farmer incubation program. 
  • ARCADIA CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD AND AGRICULTURE (at Historic Woodlawn Plantation, Alexandria, VA): Through a partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Arcadia Center grows food on a part of one of George Washington's five-farm Mount Vernon estate, pursuing a social justice mission by growing and providing fresh and healthy food to people in urban "food deserts."
  • At CLIFTON PARK within the Baltimore National Heritage Area, CivicWorks, an urban service corps project affiliated with Americorps, operates “Real Food Farm” on six acres of an eighteenth century farm that has since become a city park. The project promotes urban agriculture as an educational tool, an economic growth engine, and a means to improve human and environmental health.
